Rossini’s Cenerentola is almost the fruit of chance, of the coincidence between the frenetic activity of the composer from Pesaro, the contingent limitations of the production, the demands of theatrical entrepreneurs, the Roman censorship and a skillful librettist. All this led to a version of Perrault’s fairy tale far removed from any magic and supernatural element, to focus on a comedy of entanglement, or what amounts to a dramma giocoso, in which there must be no lack of scene shocks, surprises, but also an evolution of the characters.
The new production of Peter Grimes stands out as the strongest item in Teatro Real’s season, with magnificent staging by Deborah Warner and superb musical direction by Ivor Bolton, with outstanding vocal and dramatic performances.

A girl who, like him, is also passing through, has no partner and feels that life does not offer her everything she had always imagined. The film is directed by Cesc Gay (‘Krámpack’), a director with whom Eduard Fernández (Barcelona, 1964) had already worked with before in ‘En la ciudad’.
A.- Well, Cesc saw clearly from the beginning that the plot had to take place in the countryside. I also have the impression that if it were an urban story everything would be more negative. Although my opinion is as valid as anyone else’s.
A.- When a film ends, it is clear that the spectator does what he wants with his imagination. That is obvious. In any case, every time one leaves the theater, the film lives in everyone’s head. And then, just as happens to the writers, I’m just one more person who has seen it… although I keep wonderful memories of the filming in my head.
A.- The ideal would be to always see it in the original version. But, in any case, it’s much easier to dub a character you’ve done than one you haven’t. It’s so much easier for the dubbing director to tell you how your character feels!
